Design: Adding Color With Lamps

I know that it’s not even Christmas yet, but I’m already thinking ahead to the new year and a resolution that I have chosen for 2013. I’ve vowed to make 2013 “The Year of Our Home,” and I’m going to devote some serious time and effort into giving our home a makeover. With three boys keeping me busy all the time, my interior design degree has sadly not been put to good use in my own home. I’ve painted walls, rearranged furniture, and added splashes of personality, but each and every room of our home is only about 70% finished. So, 2013 is going to be the year that I focus on finishing up all of the interior design projects that have been floating around in the back of my head!

The first room that I want to tackle is my master bedroom. The walls are deep grey and the bedding is soon-to-be-changed, so I have a nice neutral color palette to start with. You might remember that we stenciled an accent wall a few months ago, and now I want to add a pop of color to the space.

Look at how those slender silver lamps totally disappear into the background! I want to add a bit more pizzaz to my nightstands, and I’m going to do it with one of the new Color+Plus lamps from Lamps Plus. Reflecting Pool to compliment our current bedding? Don’t you love all these amazing shade options?! I’m intrigued by the stripes, but I think I might stick to a simple white shade since the stenciled wall is already so visually interesting.

Honestly, I could keep on listing options and choices all day! I’m having such a hard time making my decision! I love color, so this entire line of lamps is right up my alley, and the sheer number of choices is totally exciting.
