Lately I’ve developed a ginormous crush on doily clocks, but I have serious commitment issues when it comes to making decisions. Truly though, how can I be expected to choose between these all of these awesome clocks? Each one makes a fun statement, and they’re all quirky and sweet in their own style. I can’t make up my mind! So, instead of driving myself crazy with all the cute options that are available, I decided to make my own – one that can easily be changed up in the future if when I decide that I want a different look!
I started with a scalloped wood circle cut out from Wood Craft Cutouts – it’s generally sold as a frame with the center cut out, but Tony was happy to fulfill my request for a solid surface instead. I also picked up a 1/4″ clock kit off of Amazon since I was having trouble finding one locally. In retrospect I probably could have used the 3/8″ kit though since it was a pretty tight fit.
I gave the clock a couple of coats of aqua spray paint and then applied a white vinyl doily that I cut out with my Silhouette craft cutter. The Silhouette store offers about a thousand different doily designs to choose from, and I naturally had a tough time picking my favorite one. The best part about using vinyl is that it will easily peel off if I decide that I want to try a different style at another time.
I love looking up from my kitchen island and seeing this cute little doily clock smiling at me. My favorite part – it came together for about half the price of all those clocks that I was admiring on Etsy!
