Each year my three boys and I decorate a special Christmas tree for their playroom that is covered entirely in homemade ornaments. This year they wanted to use washi tape (my favorite crafting supply!) to create personalized monogram ornaments, and I was happy to oblige.
I started by cutting some initials out of a recycled manilla file folder. I used my Silhouette to make quick work of it, but you could easily cut these out with an Xacto knife as well.
Cover the front of your initial with pieces of tape – we used a simple stripe pattern for our ornaments, but I think a patchwork of washi tape would also look really lovely.
Turn your letter over and trim off the excess tape using an Xacto knife.
Easy peasy! You could choose to tape the back side as well at this point, but I left ours blank so that we can record our holiday wishlists and the year on it.

How did it work out cutting these with your Silhouette? What setting did you use? Did you use a certain blade? i really want to try this. Thanks!

Hi Carrie! I used the pre-loaded settings for coverstock. I used the regular blade, and though I can’t remember exactly, I believe the blade depth was a 6-7. It cut like a dream!

Those are really cute. Have you considered doing an actual monogram like these? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152432578664676&set=a.470212864675.250682.173154524675&type=1&theater
