Ever wondered how to make candles? These Easy DIY Pineapple Candles are SO simple to make, and they smell amazing! Makes a great DIY gift idea for friends, family, teachers, neighbors, and more!

Pineapple is one of my favorite fragrances – it’s so fresh and summery! I’ve already made pineapple soaps and pineapple sugar scrub, so it was only natural that my next pineapple fragrance endeavor would be pineapple candles. Homemade candles are quickly becoming a favorite craft of mine – they’re SO quick and easy to make, and there are a ton of creative ways that you can decorate and finish them! These easy DIY pineapple candles are super cute, and they’re a cinch to make!

Oh, and my friends made some seriously awesome pineapple projects, too, to kick off Pineapple Week at The Weathered Fox, so make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to check them all out!

What You Need to Make Pineapple Candles:

  • Soy Wax Flakes
  • Candle Wax Pitcher
  • Candle Wicks
  • 6 oz. Glass Jars
  • Candle Wax Colorant
  • Pineapple Fragrance Oil
  • Black Paint, Green Paint & Paintbrush
  • Green Felt
  • Hot Glue Gun

How to Make Candles:

Note: quantities listed will yield three six-ounce jar candles.

  • Use a drop of hot glue to attach the candle wicks to the center of the bottom of the glass jars.
  • In the candle pitcher, over low-medium heat, melt four cups of soy wax flakes, stirring frequently.
  • Add 3 blocks of yellow wax colorant along with 20-30 drops of pineapple fragrance oil. Mix well.
  • Carefully pour the hot wax into the candle jars. Allow the candles jars to sit undisturbed until completely cool.

While the candles are cooling, paint the lids of the jars green. Cut and assemble felt tops as shown in the video above.

Use the hot glue gun to attach the felt toppers to the jar caps. Easy peasy!

These were super quick and easy to make, and they’re totally adorable! We are definitely making more of these for our homemade holiday gifts this year!

I recently shared these fun pineapple printable gift tags, and they’re perfect to pair along with your homemade gift (there’s also a non-text version if you want to write your own message!)!

What brand of yellow beeswax should I use ?

Any brand should work, but I recommend using the small pellets vs a bigger block of beeswax since they’re easier to melt.

Can I use yellow crayons to dye the candle instead of the color wax dye blocks?

Technically, yes, it would work, but it is not recommended. Here’s a little bit of information from Spruce Crafts as to why you shouldn’t use crayons to color candles:

Why Crayons Aren’t a Good Option for Coloring Candles

Here’s the science behind why crayons shouldn’t be used for candle making:

Like paint, crayons are colored with pigments. Pigments appear to change an object or substance’s color by reflecting or absorbing different wavelengths of light. However, the pigments don’t dissolve in wax; instead, they’re dispersed throughout the wax, floating around in it. This might not seem like an issue and a candle colored with crayons might look perfectly fine when it’s finished––until you light it.

As the wax melts and gets carried through the wick to the flame, the pigments will clog the wick. Think of it like dirty deposits in your gasoline that clog up your fuel line––that’s what happens with pigments. The pigments that don’t clog the wick tend to settle and concentrate at the bottom of the melted wax, so your once beautiful candle won’t be so pretty after a few uses. Even worse, your candle will burn with sooty smoke, until the wick gets so clogged that it stops burning altogether. These are obviously not the results you want when you’ve worked hard to make your own candles.
