My favorite holiday ornaments are the ones that hold special meaning – photos, nostalgia, and anything made by my children. Now that my boys are all old enough to write on their own, I thought it would be fun to create a “My Holiday Wishes” ornament book that would double as a fantastic Christmas keepsake. I plan on making this an annual holiday tradition so that each year we can re-read our wishes and see how they evolve and change as we do.
To make a “My Holiday Wishes” ornament book you’ll need:
Ellison AllStar SuperStar Machine or Sizzix Big Shot Machine
Sizzix Bigz Die – Christmas Ornament (#A10126)
Decorative cardstock
White (or lined) paper
Gold cardstock for ornament hangers
Stapler
Glue stick
Ribbon or string for hanging
Directions:
Begin by die cutting ornaments from your patterned, white and gold paper. You can cut multiple ornaments at one time by layering paper on your die. (You can cut up to six layers of paper at a time, depending on the thickness of the paper!)
Staple together two decorative paper ornaments and 3-4 white paper ornaments to create a mini book.
Use a glue stick to attach the decorative ornament hanger. This piece will cover up your staple from the previous step and create a clean finished look.
Add a string for hanging and a “My Holiday Wishes” nameplate.
Invite your students to fill their book with their holiday wishes – their hopes and dreams for friends and family along with their holiday gift wishlist – and you’ll have a wonderful writing exercise and keepsake tree decoration all wrapped into one!
Make this an annual holiday tradition, and each year you will have fun looking back and seeing how their hopes and wishes have changed over the years!
