How Many Donuts Does This Recipe Yield?

This recipe makes between 6-8 donuts, depending on how high the donut cavities are filled. The fuller they are filled, the more likely it is that the center hole will partially close up. This is actually great for holding more cereal toppings because it creates a bowl-like base for the cereal bits!

What’s The Best Method For Piping The Donut Batter Into My Mold?

Cut the tip of the pastry bag so that there’s a one-inch opening at the tip and don’t attach a piping tip to allow for those larger chunks of batter to flow through the opening. You can substitute the piping bag with a zip-top bag, but an actual piping bag will offer a bit more structure.

What If My Glaze Hardens Too Quickly In The Pan?

If the glaze begins to harden, the burner on the stove should still provide enough residual warmth to keep the glaze liquid after it’s been turned off. You may need to occasionally stir the glaze if it’s been sitting for a while. Reheat briefly on a low temperature if needed to re-liquify the glaze. If you do need to reheat, you may need to add a small amount of additional milk.

Tips And Tricks For Getting The Best Glaze On Your Donuts:

  • Use a saucepan that’s wide enough for your hands to easily dip in and out of.
  • Submerge the donut deep enough into the glaze to coat it, but don’t press the donut against the bottom of the pan. Hover just above it to get a clean coat of glaze. If this is challenging for you, double up on the glaze ingredients for easier dipping (note, you’ll have glaze left over if you do this).
  • If you want to double-dip the cinnamon glaze, let the first layer cool and harden before coating with a second layer.
