It’s been awhile since we shared an installment of our “Kids Cook” series, so it took me by surprise when my son prepared his own lunch last weekend and then asked me to photograph it for the blog. I love it when my kids take initiative like that, so I quickly grabbed the camera and helped him take a few pictures of his lunch.
The lunch making adventure started when my boys discovered a carton of the NEW Campbell’s Organic Kids soup in the pantry, and they couldn’t wait to try it. Campbell’s recently introduced several awesome new products that we’ll be sharing with you in the upcoming weeks, but the Organic Kids soup was the one that caught my boys attention first. Who can blame them – fun shapes, no preservatives and USDA certified organic ingredients – sounds like a winner to me! The soup also comes in an easy-to-open and easy-to-pour carton, so making lunch on their own was really easy (and didn’t involve can openers or sharp edges for Mom to worry about!). I love it when a classic favorite brand introduces new products that we love!
We recently added a panini maker to our kitchen appliance collection, and the boys have been mastering the art of grilled sandwiches. For this lunch, my 5-year-old opted for a classic grilled cheese with cheddar on buttered whole wheat bread. He had a bit of help from his 9-year-old brother (who calls himself The Master Panini Maker) with the actual grilling part, but I was pretty impressed that he assembled everything for his sandwich on his own. These kids have become so proficient at the art of basic cooking that I don’t even have to help them anymore!
As soon as I was done taking photos, the boys devoured their sandwiches, and they raved about the Organic Kids soup. They loved the fun pasta shapes, and my 8-year-old soup fanatic proclaimed that the broth tasted even better than Campbell’s traditional chicken noodle soup broth (which is high praise because he loves the classic soup broth!). All three kids were super proud of their kid-made lunch, and they can’t wait to try all of the new Campbell’s products now!
