Hi everyone! I’m delighted to introduce myself as a new contributor here at Happiness is Homemade! I’m the author and creative mind behind Chase the Star, where I write about simple and cost-friendly ideas for decorating and crafting {and more}! I am a lover of all things creative, and when I have a rare moment to spare you can find me at the local thrift store scoping out my next project.
Pumpkins are everywhere this time of year, and I love to come up with new and creative ways to decorate them. We will be carving pumpkins just before Halloween, but for now, playing with a little paint would be fun!
How about adding a little bling to your pumpkin this year? I had some platinum paint left over from another project so I thought I’d ‘dip’ my pumpkins and gourds.
Platinum Dipped Pumpkins and Gourds
The best part of this project is that it takes very little time and expense to complete!
Here’s what you’ll need if you want Platinum Dipped Pumpkins and Gourds:
Pumpkins and gourds
Paint
{I used Platinum paint by Modern Masters, but you can get really creative here! Go with a gold-dipped look, or how about a bright shade of turquoise or a bold white?}
Foam brush with a square edge
Directions:
Wipe your pumpkins down with a damp cloth.
Using the foam brush, paint your pumpkin starting from the middle section, and work your way down. Continue this process around the entire pumpkin or gourd. Allow to dry for about 30 minutes and then give it a couple more coats as needed. If you don’t have a steady hand, go ahead and mark the paint line with painter’s tape!
Looks like the pumpkins were ‘dipped’ into a bucket of beautifully shimmery platinum paint!
For added bling, I also painted the stems. I think I’ll be displaying these in my dining room and keep them there until Thanksgiving!
Do you do anything out of the ordinary with your pumpkins in the fall? I’d love to you to inspire me, leave a comment and let us know!
Happy Fall and see ya next time!
{Thanks so much for the great idea, Barbara! We’re super excited to have you here with us!}
