Sawyer wants to play with shaving cream ALL. THE. TIME. Yesterday I decided to mix it up a little bit by giving him the opportunity to create some art instead of just mixing colors and allowing him to make a mess. We filled up cups with the shaving foam (make sure you use the shaving foam and not the gel!) and mixed in a few drops of liquid food coloring.
Note: you might also want to make sure that the shaving cream you have is unscented unless you don’t mind a strong aroma of aftershave lingering around for the rest of the day. Trust me.
After awhile the boys ditched the brushes, because shaving cream just feels sooooo good and squishy between your fingers.
Sutton and Sawyer stayed at their easel for over an hour! They created as many paintings as they could fit on our outdoor clothesline drying rack – it was jam packed with their art, and they were proud little artists!
I absolutely LOVE the amazing texture and marbelization you get with this technique!

Fun! I love homemade crafty recipes 🙂
I run Fun Family Crafts, a site similar in nature to Craftgawker and Spotlight, but different in that it’s a library of craft tutorials geared only at kids. I would love it if you’d stop by and submit this to be featured! (I link to you, I don’t post your tutorial on the site) Feel free to submit as many kid friendly craft tutorials as you like! http://funfamilycrafts.com/
great idea.. thank you!! we are doing this after nap, i think i am more excited than the kids!!
So fun! We’ve done marbleized paper using the same concept, but scraping the shaving cream off. I like the idea of leaving it on too.
Thanks so much for linking up to my Summer Fun party!

I love experimenting with different mediums. Also, I featured your Baby Tag Blanket on my blog today. : ) Thanks for linking up with Fun for Kids Friday @ http://www.localfunforkids.com
I did this craft with my young SMA 1 pt(4 yr old). He uses slings to swing his limbs, he still has some movement in his legs so he did toe painting. He enjoys the feel of the shaving cream. I will have to try the glue next time. Great post and ideas.

You can also try bathtub painting with shaving cream. Easier to hose down the mess afterwards (and the kid). 🙂
I hadn’t ever thought about adding glue…thanks for the idea!
Try mixing your colored shaving cream with equal parts of white glue; it dries smooth and puffy. It’s super cool! :0)
I was just going to mention adding glue…makes it really puffy and fun when it dries… I guess people name Tonja/Tonya think alike 🙂
I just love this idea. Will definitely be an art project very soon. Thank you for sharing.
Found your blog through somewhat simple… You have some great ideas! I’m a new follower now 🙂
