Today is my birthday (woohoo!), and since I haven’t done an introduction in awhile, I figured that today is a perfect time to share some random facts about myself and let you get to know me a little bit better. So, here are thirty-something tidbits about me to celebrate my thirty-something birthday…
- My favorite color is yellow.
- I hate pickles and mustard.
- I love donuts.
- I have a strange OCD obsession with putting things in rainbow color order – clothes, paints, books on the shelf, whatever…you name it, it’s probably arranged by color in this house.
- I collect coffee mugs (all arranged in color order, of course!).
- I want nothing more than to move to the country and live life on a small farm (or to win the lottery and buy a house on the beach…either one!).
- I have had insomnia for as long as I can remember.
- I can only fall asleep in a reasonable amount of time if I’m using a hypnosis app (which I use 99 out of 100 nights).
- I love vintage items, and I hoard vintage sheet fabric like nothing else.
- I used to perform on stage and have a background in theatre.
- I can’t sing.
- My favorite albums of all time are Green Day’s American Idiot and Sarah McLachlan’s Afterglow. I’m super eclectic in my musical taste.
- I have two tattoos.
- I initially went to college to study photography, but a financial aid mix-up forced me to switch schools and led me to get my BA in interior design instead.
- I much prefer Urban Outfitters to Anthropologie (ooh, blog world blasphemy!).
- I have three younger sisters and no brothers (but I do have two brother-in-laws now!). Our parents have been together since high school.
- I love the beach, redwood trees and bright green grass {I should totally move to the Oregon coast}.
- I have a celebrity girl-crush on Zooey Deschanel (who doesn’t!?), but I can’t come up with a single male celebrity crush. Seriously, I’ve tried to think of one, and I just can’t. Mostly I just look upon other people’s celebrity crushes with confusion…Channing Tatum? Zac Efron? Really? What am I missing here?
- I think that all books purchased from Amazon should come with a free Kindle edition…and it should be retroactive to cover every book I’ve ever bought from there in the past 15 years.
- I have an extreme fear of heights and rattlesnakes. Actually, all snakes.
- I might be a craft supply hoarder. It’s just SO hard to cut into perfect fabric or that ONE lone sheet of amazing paper that I have. What if I mess it up?
- I have a crazy good memory.
- My favorite artist is Kurt Halsey.
- I am a list maker, and I always have at least two notebooks at arm’s reach. I’m a notebook-aholic.
- I really don’t like chick flicks. I’m much more likely to reach for a suspense or horror movie than a girly comedy.
- One of my greatest professional achievements was being published 15 times in local magazines, mostly because it made my grandparents SO proud of me. Now they’re expecting me to write a book. 😉
- I really want to write a book.
- I’m a sucker for polka dots.
- I love Diet Coke more than I should. We’ve tried to break up a few times, but we always seem to get back together in the end.
- My family means everything to me.
- It’s taken me a long time, and I’ve traveled through a lot of dark places to get here, but I’m finally at a place where I am confident and happy with who I am.

I LOVE this! I love vintage anything, hoarding craft supplies, and I can’t sing. I think we’re twins!

I loved getting to know you better! Wishing you a very happy birthday!

Can’t sing?! I think that trait must run in the family (LOL!), however I do vividly remember taking turns singing many Ace of Base songs in your bedroom when we were kids. 🙂

Happy birthday Heidi, love you and all the things about you 🙂 Except for hating pickles and mustard….

I can’t believe you don’t like mustard….

I love this list. And I love getting to know you! I’m super confused about the pickles and mustard though…

Happy birthday! For your birthday, I got you 90 degree weather, instead of 100 degree weather. 😛
Write that book. You won’t regret it!
Lindsay @ Frenchie says
So fun to learn some things about you!!

What would you write your book about Heidi? I’d read it!
Heidi says
I’d probably write a kids craft book first since I have about a zillion ideas for that one! 🙂
Tracey@Let's Go Junking says
Happy Birthday Heidi. Absolutely loved “getting to know you”. I know what you mean about cutting into that pretty fabric or wonderful paper – I have huge stashes just because of that fear. WRITE THE BOOK or just continue to write anything.

Thank you, Tracey! 🙂
