Watermelon strawberry slushies are a light and refreshing summer treat that’s perfect for the kids (or add a splash of alcohol for a tasty adult beverage!). I came up with this recipe after we gorged ourselves on watermelon for a couple of days and still had a {TON} left over. I cubed it into small pieces and tossed it into the freezer thinking that I might be able to concoct some sort of watermelon fruit freeze (once we got over our initial watermelon hangover!). A few days later I threw it into the blender with some juice and strawberries and this delicious icy drink was born! It was an especially big hit with my oldest son who ended up drinking half a blenderful all by himself!
RECIPE:
8 oz. apple juice
1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen – fresh will make your slushie jucier; frozen will make it icier)
2 cups frozen watermelon cubes
2 handfulls of ice
(makes 4 servings)
Blend all the ingredients, pour and enjoy!
