Ingredients
1
cup
Frozen Strawberries
1
Lime
1/2
cup
Orange Juice,
reduce to 1/4 if using tequila
1/2
tsp.
Margarita Salt or Coarse Sugar,
optional (for rimming glasses)
1
cup
White Sugar
3/4
cup
Water
1
shot of Tequila,
optional
Note: for the alcoholic version add 1 shot of tequila and decrease the orange juice to 1/4 cup.
Instructions
To Candy the Limes:
Cut the lime into thin slices.
Add the white sugar and water to a pot, boil until sugar is dissolved and mixture starts to gain a
syrup like texture.
Shut the heat off, remove the pan from the burner and add the limes. Stir to coat with the syrup and let them sit for about 5-6 minutes.
Remove the limes from the syrup, place on wax paper and sprinkle with sugar. Let cool completely.
Refrigerate the lime syrup from the pan for the sorbet.
For the Sorbet:
Add the strawberries, orange juice, small piece of lime rind, 1/4 cup of cold lime syrup, and tequila (if using) into a blender or smoothie maker.
Blend until smooth.
Spoon into a stainless steel bowl and freeze for at least 1 hour.
Scoop into a sugar rimmed margarita glass or dish, and garnish with candied limes.
