Strawberry Margarita Sorbet - Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Versions

 

This quick and easy homemade fruit sorbet is a delicious twist on a classic strawberry margarita. You can include alcohol (tequila) if desired, or skip it for a yummy non-alcoholic treat that the entire family can enjoy!

Strawberry Margarita Sorbet Ingredients

What You’ll Need:

  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Lime
  • Orange Juice
  • Margarita Salt and/or Coarse Sugar (optional, to rim glasses)
  • White Sugar
  • Tequila (optional)

How to Candy LimesTo candy the limes, cut the lime into thin slices. Add the white sugar and water to a pot, boil until sugar is dissolved and mixture starts to gain a syrup like texture.  Shut the heat off, remove the pan from the burner and add the limes. Stir to coat with the syrup and let them sit for about 5-6 minutes. Remove the limes from the syrup, place on wax paper and sprinkle with sugar. Let cool completely. Reserve the lime syrup from the pan for the sorbet (refrigerate to cool).

How to Make Strawberry Margarita Sorbet

Strawberry Margarita Sorbet RecipeAdd the strawberries, orange juice, small piece of lime rind, cold lime syrup, and tequila (if using) into a blender or smoothie maker. Blend until smooth. Spoon into a bowl (stainless steel works best) and freeze for at least 1 hour.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice, reduce to 1/4 if using tequila
  • 1/2 tsp. Margarita Salt or Coarse Sugar, optional (for rimming glasses)
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1 shot of Tequila, optional
  • Note: for the alcoholic version add 1 shot of tequila and decrease the orange juice to 1/4 cup.

Instructions:

To Candy the Limes:

  • Refrigerate the lime syrup from the pan for the sorbet.

For the Sorbet:

  • Add the strawberries, orange juice, small piece of lime rind, 1/4 cup of cold lime syrup, and tequila (if using) into a blender or smoothie maker.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Spoon into a stainless steel bowl and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  • Scoop into a sugar rimmed margarita glass or dish, and garnish with candied limes.

  1. I’ve enjoyed a lot of margaritas in my day, but I’ve never tried them with candied limes. Love the idea! I like to make two batches, one nice and boozy, the other kid friendly. Thanks for the great post Heidi!
