How to Make Your Own Spirit Pom Poms

Supplies Needed to Make DIY Pom Poms:

NOTE: I typically pick up my tablecloths at Dollar Tree, but you can also find them on Amazon or at your local party store! I like to choose 2-3 colors to match my team colors.

Instructions for Making DIY Pom Poms:

Unroll the length of the tablecloth, but DO NOT UNFOLD the tablecloth all the way! The tablecloth comes pre-folded, so you will want to unroll it into one long folded piece that is around 14″ x 108″, but keep the remaining layers folded.

Fold the tablecloth in half by matching up the short sides, and then fold in half again. You will be left with a thick stack of plastic that is around 14″ x 27″. Use the scissors or rotary cutter to cut the tablecloth in half both vertically and horizontally. You will then have four stacks of plastic approximately 7″ x 13″ each, and each stack will have approximately 12 layers of plastic in it.

Use the scissors or rotary cutter to cut each 7″ x 13″stack into 1/2″ wide ribbons that are approximately 6″ long –leave an inch along the end uncut!

Repeat the cutting process for each color that you will use in your pom poms.

Stack up 8-10 fringed sheets of plastic in alternating coordinating colors to match your team. Tape the wooden stick handle to the edge of the uncut portion of the plastic. Tightly roll the plastic sheets around the wooden stick, using a small piece of tape to secure the plastic in place after each 2-3 wraps, and then use a larger piece of tape to firmly secure the ends once you reach the opposite end of the plastic sheet.
