SCORING & GAME PLAY:
These games can be scored in several different ways which can be adjusted depending on the size of your party group. Typically, games are played individually at small parties (under 6-8 guests) and in groups at larger parties.
In individual games, the player will try to race the clock (usually set at one or two minutes depending on the age group of the party and the difficulty level of the challenge), and points will be awarded based upon whether or not the challenge is completed before time runs out. For these individual games, we usually opt to have players score 3 points if they complete the task, 0 if they do not.
For larger party groups, challenges are completed with 3-5 players at a time competing to beat the clock. The timer is set, and points are awarded based upon whether or not the player is able to complete the task before the time runs out. We like to add extra bonus points for the player who finishes first, so we score as follows: 5 points if you finish first (or collect the most, etc.), 3 points if you complete the challenge and 0 if you do not.
At the end, the points are tallied, and prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.
Minute to Win It Halloween Games
This fun Halloween party game idea comes from Meaningful Mama and her school harvest festival! Set the timer for one minute and race back and forth trying to fill a pumpkin with popcorn – earn points if you fill the pumpkin, zero if you don’t!
This fun (and delicious!) Donut Eating Contest makes a great Minute to Win It game! Divide your party guests into small groups, set the timer for 1-2 minutes, and award points to the people who finish their donuts (without dropping them!).
Pumpkin Mini Golf is sure to be a HUGE hit! Sink 5 balls in under a minute (or 10 if you really want a challenge!) to score points!
The “Mouthful of Dirt” game is one of my personal favorites! Set the timer for one minute and see how many you can collect! Points can either be awarded to the person who collects the most or to people who can find and scoop at least 6 bugs in one minute. Get the rules and supply list here.
Set the timer for 1-2 minutes and race from the start to the finish line (for an extra challenge, turn the race into an obstacle course!) in this fun Pumpkin Run challenge! Score points if you make it without dropping your pumpkin!
Monster Bean Bag Toss – set the timer and compete to see if you can toss 5 bean bags into the monster’s mouth within 1 minute! Tip: adjust the number of bean bags required to score depending on the size of your monster’s mouth.
When you’re done with the monster toss, hold onto those bean bags because this Ghost Balloon Pop game uses a special set up that allows you to use bean bags instead of darts to pop balloons! Pop 5 balloons in under one minute (or 10 for a greater challenge!) to score points!
Divide party guests into groups of 2-3 for these fun Spider Races! Set the timer for one minute – the person to get their spider across the finish line first scores points!
Witch Pitch is another personal favorite of mine! Score points by successfully tossing 5-10 pieces of candy corn into the cauldrons in under 1 minute!
The Jack Stack is a clever twist on the classic Stack Attack cup stacking Minute to Win It game! Not only do you need to stack and unstack the cups within a minute, you also have to place the cups in the correct order! Score points if you successfully complete the task!
These fun Halloween Minute to Win It games are sure to make your party a HUGE success! Which Halloween party game is your favorite?
