How to Make a Funny Mom Shirt
Supplies Needed:
- Your Favorite Blank Shirt (Here are a few of our favorites!)
- Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2 Cutting Machine (or other electronic cutting machine that uses SVG files)
- Iron-On (Heat Transfer Vinyl) in assorted colors (Amazon | Cricut | Expressions Vinyl)
- Standard Grip Cutting Mat
- Weeding Tools (Amazon | Cricut)
- EasyPress 2 and Mat (Amazon | Cricut) (Note: you can also use an iron or a heat press, however, we HIGHLY recommend the EasyPress!)
Note: you can use an iron instead of an EasyPress, however, we HIGHLY recommend the EasyPress 2. You can read all about Why We Recommend the EasyPress 2 here!
How to Make a Shirt Instructions:
To begin, upload the “Tired as a Mother” SVG file into Design Space (or other design software). If you need help, you can find step-by-step instructions for How to Upload an SVG to Cricut Design Space here!
Note: If you prefer not to include the “ZZZZZZZZZZZZ” line, simply click the Contour button in the lower right corner of the screen and then click on each of the Z’s in the pop-up box to remove them from the design.
Once you have your design on the canvas the way that you want it to look, click on the green “Make It” button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Cut the iron-on vinyl using your cutting machine, and use the weeding tools to remove the excess vinyl.
Note: When working with iron-on vinyl, always mirror each individual mat before cutting!
Next, use the EasyPress 2 (or an iron) to adhere your design to your shirt following the recommended time and temperature settings in the Interactive Quick Reference Guide.
Allow the vinyl to cool slightly before removing the backing paper.
Easy peasy and totally adorable! Perfect for those “Hot Mess Mom” kind of days! (It also pairs really well with a classic messy “Mom bun” hairstyle!)

Thanks so much, Rebecca! I am pretty sure this was a j.america hoodie like this one here (though it looks like the most recent version may be slightly more vintage-washed now): https://www.clothingshoponline.com/p/j-america/8915_vintage-zen-fleece-hooded-sweatshirt?color=cement 🙂
