Make your own Funny Coffee Mugs with these free SVG cut files for your Cricut or Silhouette machine! Custom coffee mugs make a great quick and easy gift idea for friends, family, teachers, neighbors and more! @Folgers @Walmart
I’ve been working with vinyl and my electronic cutting machine a lot lately, and even though I’ve been using it a ton, I still can’t seem to get enough of it! Vinyl projects are super quick and easy, and even better, they’re relatively inexpensive, so I can totally justify making ALL the things (am I right?!).
A few days ago, I was cutting vinyl for a fun shrink plastic jewelry project that I was working on, and as I was sitting there sipping my morning coffee, I decided that my boring white coffee mug needed a vinyl facelift as well. I mean, everything is better when it’s decorated with vinyl, right?
“Super Mom. Super Wife. Super Tired.” Yep, that pretty much sums things up! I used my electronic cutting machine to cut the phrase out of black permanent vinyl, used my weeding tool to remove the excess, and used a small piece of transfer tape to apply the vinyl to the mug.
Tip: when applying vinyl to a curved surface, it helps to cut your design into strips (between the lines of text, leaving a center “hinge” uncut) and apply each strip one at a time to ensure proper placement.
Easy-peasy and super cute! In fact, it was SO easy that I made two more vinyl designs for the remaining blank mugs in my mug collection!
These custom coffee mugs turned out great, and I love this awesome and creative way to upgrade an inexpensive dollar store mug! I wish I had about a million more blank mugs because I have SO many more fun designs that I want to try!
It is MUCH more fun to work when you have one of these funny coffee mugs sitting on your desk!
Also, dollar store mug + vinyl = a super easy and inexpensive gift idea! One of these mugs packaged with a bag of gourmet coffee would be a fantastic gift for friends, family, and neighbors. It would make an awesome teacher appreciation gift, too!
While I was cruising the coffee aisle at Walmart the other day, I spied these new Folgers Simply Gourmet natural flavored coffees and had to grab ’em! I know that most people probably would have just grabbed one variety to try, but they ALL sounded so yummy that I couldn’t decide! Which one would you have chosen? Natural Chocolate, Natural Caramel, Natural Cinnamon, or Natural Vanilla? Those descriptions all sound amazing! The best part is that they have no artificial flavors! One of these bags of natural flavored coffee + a DIY funny coffee mug, and you’re all set for gift giving (or keeping for yourself…I won’t judge!)!
So far I’ve sampled the Natural Vanilla and the Natural Chocolate flavors, and I like them equally well…though the Natural Chocolate also makes an incredible frozen blended mocha, so I think that one might have a slight edge on the competition! My coffee-loving son says that the aroma of the Natural Vanilla reminds him of birthday cake so that one is his favorite. I am sure that the Caramel and Cinnamon flavors will be just as delicious!
I had so much fun making these custom funny coffee mugs, and I am sure they’ll be making an appearance on our homemade gift giving list this year!

How do you apply heat transfer vinyl to a mug??
Heidi says
You can roll it against the surface of a heat press or EasyPress or you can use a mini iron.
Abby says
Hi! I LOVE your creations! I was trying to make the “first we drink the coffee..” one for myself, and the machine botched the small letters when cutting. Any tips on how to keep that from happening?
Heidi says
Since this design contains intricate and small pieces, I always recommend using a fresh blade. Another alternative is to use heat transfer vinyl (yep, you can use it on ceramic!) since it tends to be more forgiving with smaller pieces. 🙂

Can you please share the font that was used to write ‘coffee’ and ‘things’?

Is the link still active? When I click on it it looks like a bunch of craziness.
Heidi says
Hi Breanna, when you click on the link, the zip file should automatically download to your computer instead of opening. I just tested it, and it seems to be working on my end, so maybe give it another try!
Barrie says
Do you mind sharing where you got your mugs from – I love them!
Barrie says
… the one with the black rim.
Heidi says
Thanks! I got them on Amazon! (You can find them by clicking here!)
Ronda Bair says
How do you wash them? By hand, dishwasher? Does it peel off? What type do I use? Thank you!
Heidi says
I used permanent adhesive vinyl, so it sticks VERY well, but I do recommend hand washing them. 🙂
Meghan says
Are we able to re use these for selling (finished products ) on small Etsy vinyl businesses ? thanks
Heidi says
All of my files are for personal use only, but thank you for asking! I am currently in production to have these finished mugs listed for sale in my own shop. I appreciate your inquiry and understanding!
