Valentine’s Day Word Scramble Game

Word scrambles are an awesome combination of fun mixed with educational learning, so they’re high-up on my list of favorite things to create for my kids! This Valentine’s Day word scramble game is made up of sixteen mixed-up holiday words just waiting to be put in proper order – race the clock or each other to see who can unscramble the most words the fastest!

There’s a great mix of long and short words on the list, so it’s suitable for all ages from elementary school children through adults, though it’s probably best suited for middle elementary grades and older in order to have a chance at getting 100% of the words unscrambled!

This Valentine’s Day word scramble game is perfect for classroom Valentine’s parties, Scout meetings, playgroups, or as a fun family activity – just print and play! It doesn’t get much easier than that! We like to set a timer for 2 or 3 minutes and see which member of our family can unscramble the most words in the time allotted (it makes a fantastic Minute to Win It Game this way!), or it’s also fun to compete head-to-head to see who can finish the entire list first!

  1. Thank you very much for the free printable. Throwing a Galentines gathering. Does anyone have a suggestion of how long should be allowed to do the scramble?

    1. For adults, I usually do 2-3 minutes so that they have to work quickly, but you can adjust that depending on your group! 🙂

  2. I plan on doing this with 2nd graders. I hope the words won’t be too hard. Thanks for the great ideas. This grandma loves working in her grandkids classrooms!

  3. Answer Key: Chocolate, Flowers, Love, Candy, February, Valentine, Hearts, Cupid, Friend, Cuddle, Kiss, Roses, Sweethearts, Hug, Arrow, and Jewelry. Thanks for playing! ????

    1. Hi! Not sure if anyone has already said or not, but the “sweetheart” one is missing a 2nd “T”… I finally had to check comments for the key bc I didn’t think it could be sweetheart and I was stumped! Ha.

      Otherwise, great scramble!!!

      1. Oops! Thanks so much for letting me know, Kim! I went ahead and updated the printable so that it is correct now! 🙂
